  1. The motor shaft and the input bore of the gearbox must match

The motor shaft diameter and the gearbox input bore diameter must be identical, and the motor shaft length must fall within the gearbox's allowable shaft length range.

To meet specific customer needs, we offer short-shaft variants of certain motors and gearboxes. Short-shaft motors are not compatible with standard gearboxes, and short-bore gearboxes are not compatible with standard motors. When selecting a motor and gearbox, verify that both the shaft diameter and shaft length are appropriate for the pairing.

The motor shaft diameter and length, as well as the gearbox input bore diameter and maximum allowable shaft length, are listed in the product descriptions and drawings on our website:

  1. The mounting hole sizes of the motor and gearbox must match

In most cases, selecting a motor and gearbox with the same frame size ensures that their mounting holes align. However, some of our motors use non-standard mounting hole patterns and cannot be paired with standard gearboxes.

The mounting hole dimensions for both the motor and gearbox are provided in their respective drawings.

  1. Pay attention to the motor type

Our standard gearboxes are designed for stepper motors, but we also offer other motor types. Some motors have modified mounting hole patterns to fit standard gearboxes (for example, 57×57 mm brushless motors fit standard NEMA 23 gearboxes). Some motors are paired with dedicated gearboxes (for example, T6 series servo motors are paired with TG series gearboxes). Other motors do not have a compatible gearbox available.

When selecting a non-stepper motor, use the parameters above to determine whether a compatible gearbox is available.
