You can adjust the maximum speed limit of the following brushless drivers by changing the positions of the jumper caps on the PCB:
Supported Models: BLD-510S, BLD-510B, BLD-405S, BLD-515C
Accessing the Jumper Header
To adjust the jumper caps, first remove the driver enclosure cover to expose the jumper header pins on the PCB.
Jumper Configuration
The jumper header has four positions (labeled 1–4). Each position represents one bit of a 4-bit binary value that determines the speed limit:
- Installing a jumper cap on a position sets that bit to 1.
- Leaving a position empty (no jumper cap) sets that bit to 0.
By default, a jumper cap is installed at position 4 only (binary 0001).
Refer to the speed setting table in the image below for all jumper configurations and their corresponding maximum speed limits.
Purpose of the Speed Limit Setting
This setting limits the maximum speed of the motor — the motor speed will not exceed the configured value. To maintain linearity of the 0–5 V analog input during motor operation, it is recommended to set the speed limit to the highest speed required by your actual application.

Adjusting for Different Numbers of Pole Pairs
The speed limits shown in the table are based on a motor with 1 pole pair. For motors with a different number of pole pairs, divide the table value by the actual number of pole pairs to determine the correct speed limit.
Formula:
Actual Speed Limit = Table Speed Limit (for 1 pole pair) ÷ Number of Pole Pairs
Example 1 — Jumper setting with a base speed of 14,000 RPM (1 pole pair):
| Pole Pairs | Calculation | Actual Speed Limit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 14,000 ÷ 1 | 14,000 RPM |
| 2 | 14,000 ÷ 2 | 7,000 RPM |
| 4 | 14,000 ÷ 4 | 3,500 RPM |
| 5 | 14,000 ÷ 5 | 2,800 RPM |
Example 2 — Jumper setting with a base speed of 32,000 RPM (1 pole pair):
| Pole Pairs | Calculation | Actual Speed Limit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 32,000 ÷ 1 | 32,000 RPM |
| 2 | 32,000 ÷ 2 | 16,000 RPM |
| 4 | 32,000 ÷ 4 | 8,000 RPM |
| 5 | 32,000 ÷ 5 | 6,400 RPM |
