The ST-C01 is a compact stepper motor controller designed for ease of use. The diagram below shows the parameter definitions from the ST-C01 user manual.

This article explains the relationship between the values displayed on the ST-C01 (specifically F-03 and F-05) and the motor's rotational speed.

Key Concept: Pulses Per Revolution (PPR)

Pulses per revolution (PPR) refers to the number of pulses required for the motor to complete one full revolution. This value is determined by the driver's microstep setting. Throughout this article, "driver PPR" and "driver pulse resolution" are used interchangeably.

How F-09 Affects the Displayed Value

F-09 is a user-configurable pulse scaling factor that maps the controller's internal values to the displayed speed.

  • If F-09 is set to (driver PPR) ÷ 10, the value displayed on the ST-C01 directly represents the motor speed in RPM.

  • If F-09 is set to any other value, the relationship between the displayed value and the actual speed is:

    Speed (RPM) = Displayed Value × (F-09 × 10) ÷ Driver PPR

Parameter List

  1. F-01 → Motion Mode
  2. F-02 → Forward Travel (pulses). Forward revolutions = F-02 ÷ Driver PPR
  3. F-03 → Forward Speed. Forward speed (RPM) = (F-03 × F-09 × 10) ÷ Driver PPR
  4. F-04 → Reverse Travel (pulses). Reverse revolutions = F-04 ÷ Driver PPR
  5. F-05 → Reverse Speed. Reverse speed (RPM) = (F-05 × F-09 × 10) ÷ Driver PPR
  6. F-06 → Number of Cycles (Unit: Count)
  7. F-07 → Forward Delay Time (Unit: Seconds)
  8. F-08 → Reverse Delay Time (Unit: Seconds)
  9. F-09 → Pulse Scaling Factor (recommended value: driver PPR ÷ 10, for direct RPM display)
